The Association of Registered Professional Foresters of New BrunswickThe Association is meeting the challenge of responsibility for sustainable management of our forest resources, as graduates of forestry degree programs, and with a strong commitment to continuing education. The Canadian Federation of Professional Foresters Association (CFPFA) coordinates standards of curriculum and practice for the five provinces which have professional associations. The Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board, an offshoot of the C.F.P.F.A., has completed a review of the curricula of Canadian university forestry programs, including University of New Brunswick and L'université de Moncton. These programs have been accredited for the next four years, in general but with provision for re-examination as curricula may change. The core curriculum followed by forestry faculties provides the foundation on which graduate foresters build their careers. An understanding of all values in the forest is inculcated in foresters and, from this foundation, each grows into a particular area of interest and a career. The entomologist, economist, biologist, fire management officer, geographic information analyst, tree improvement manager, extension authority, academic, policy adviser, administrator, and executive all begin as foresters and people the departments of government, industry and academia involved in forestry. They are the Registered Professional Foresters of New Brunswick, designated R.P.F. |
