Continuing Forestry EducationAs in all professions, members must be provided with opportunities to continuing updating and developing their knowledge, skill, and proficiency. A vigorous continuing forestry education program is evolving in concert with sister organizations in the C.F.P.F.A. to meet the needs of New Brunswick professional foresters. It is an expansion of the courses, seminars and workshops provided by the universities and the Maritime Forest Ranger School during the past 30 or more years. At the ARPFNB Annual General Meeting in 2007, a revised Continuing Forestry Education protocol was approved. The most significant change to the program was implementation of a three-year rolling period during which CFE credits can be earned, beginning in February 2007. The reporting procedure was also updated, whereby members are required to annually report number of credits earned, without the requirement to submit lists of specific educational opportunities undertaken. These records must be maintained by the members to be available for audit, if and when requested by the CFE committee. CFE certificates will no longer be issued to ARPFNB members due to the revisions, allowing for a continuous progression of earning CFE credits.
