WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, the Forest Land Manager, will be a key specialist of the forest development team and will be responsible for contributing to the overall management and engagement of numerous private properties in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
With a considerable field component, the Forest Land Manager will provide leadership in the implementation of harvesting and silviculture prescriptions, log sales and marketing, infrastructure assessments and planning, and day-to-day access and referral responses. The ideal candidate will be interested in continuing their career development in forest management while working independently.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
A safety conscious attitude;
Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline;
Minimum 5 of years related experience with operational forest management including project management and budgeting;
Comprehensive understanding of New Brunswick’s government silviculture subsidy programs;
Significant experience in operational planning, including block and road layout, harvest prescriptions (including non-clearcut), harvest supervision, timber cruising, field assessments, etc.;
Experience with forestry related software, GIS and Microsoft Office;
A valid driver’s license and safe driving record; and
A valid WAWA Certification and the ability to communicate in both official languages are considered assets.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's of Science in Forestry degree combined with significant experience with forest operations in the forest industry or a government forestry agency.
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain membership as an RPF within the Association of Saskatchewan Forestry Professionals within two years of commencement.

Job Description: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, transportation, road building and maintenance on AV Group woodlands operations.
Responsibilities associated to this role include, but are not limited to:
• Coaching and developing front line operations foresters.
• Coordinating and management of harvesting, road building and transportation contractors, ensuring all health, safety and environmental regulation are met and exceeded.
• Coaching contractors to ensure production, delivery and quality targets are consistently met and deliveries are on time and on budget.
• Provide the leadership required to foster an environment of continuous improvement across the operation.
Qualifications:
• Forestry or Forest Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma with appropriate experience.
• Minimum 5 + years of Forestry Operations experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Microsoft Office skills (excel, word).
• Must own vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
